BU women's basketball plans to turn expectations into results

Posted: Updated:

VESTAL (WBNG) - Following a fifth place finish in the America East last year, the Binghamton women's basketball team is picked to finish third in the America East preseason poll. With Imani Watkins and Alyssa James gearing up for their senior season, the Bearcats are ready to make a statement on the hardwood.

"Kids are competing hard in practice every day," said Binghamton head coach Linda Cimino. Being pre-seeded third, it gives us higher expectations than last year, but we obviously put a lot of pressure on ourselves. We want to be right there at the end, and be in first, and win a championship."

"We have to be as good at one, as we are at eight or nine," said Binghamton senior guard Imani Watkins. "I think we are working on that in practice. People are stepping up and doing what we need them to do. The energy and effort is great every practice. I think people are finally starting to see that we can get where we want to go."

Bearcats open its season November 10 against Army in West Point, New York.
