VESTAL (WBNG) - The Binghamton women's soccer team was picked to finish 8th in the America East preseason poll this season. There are only nine teams in the conference. Eleven wins later, the Bearcats are America East regular season co-champions for the first time since 2014 and will host it's first playoff game since 2009.
"We were picked at a certain point this year and we didn't believe any of it," said Binghamton women's head coach Neel Bhattacharjee. "The belief was really within our own circle. We knew what we had. We knew how prepared we were. We knew the work we put in over the spring and summer was going to pay dividends, and that's exactly what happened. So, it's a satisfying feeling but we're not done."
"I really love that this team," said Binghamton freshman midfielder Dora Hayes. "We all love each other and we're just a huge family. We all support each other and have each other's backs through everything."
"We just need to play as a team (on Sunday)," said Binghamton sophomore midfielder Carly Barnett. "We are all really hungry for this win to get into the championship."
The Bearcats will host the winner of Albany and Vermont at 1 p.m. on Sunday
