ENDICOTT (WBNG) - The Union-Endicott Tigers took on the Vestal Golden Bears for the Class A Section IV volleyball championship on Wednesday evening at Chenango Valley High School. Union-Endicott beat Vestal in straight sets, 3-0, to capture the Section IV title.
"It feels awesome," said Union-Endicott head coach Paige Franey. "They've worked very hard from the start, all summer in the weight room for summer workouts, and transitioning in to this. It's been a long time and I'm very proud of this group, and very excited for them."
"It feels great," said Union-Endicott senior Kate Brennan. "The last couple of years we've made it to the section finals, but this is our first win and it feels really good."
"It's so exciting," said Union-Endicott senior Emmie LaPier. "Vestal's been our rival since before I even remember. So, it's really great beating them (for the Section IV title.)"
"I think we're just going to stick with our game-plan (as the Tigers advance to the state playoffs)," said Franey. "I mean you've got a whole different section that you're playing. The thing that's going to stink is that we're going to be traveling three hours to play. So, I wish we were a little closer to home, but we're going to stay with our game. It worked for us this year and we're just going to find tune things and keep going from here."
