VESTAL (WBNG) - The Binghamton men's basketball team opens the 2017-18 season Friday night inside the Events Center. The Bearcats welcome Morgan State University out of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference to Vestal. The Bears finished last season 14-16.

Tommy Dempsey enters his sixth season as head coach of the Binghamton men's basketball program. The Bearcats finished last season on a nine game losing streak to end the year with a 12-20 record. This year, Binghamton is optimistic and as a new season begins, Dempsey says his guys are itching to play meaningful basketball games again.

"The attitude has been really good," said Binghamton head coach Tommy Dempsey. "As soon as we broke practice this morning, there was this element of 'oh man, we have one more practice before we play.' I just think they're anxious and I think they're prepared and ready."

On what to expect Friday night against Morgan State:

"There's going to be two teams out there that haven't played in a while," said Dempsey. "There's going to be two teams out there that are going to be excited to play. You know we always focus on ourselves, but the other team is going to feel similarly."
