TOWN OF CONKLIN (WBNG) - Susquehanna Valley senior pitcher Sophia Pappas signed his letter of intent on Wednesday afternoon to continue her softball career at Binghamton University. On the mound as a junior, Pappas recorded 239 strikeouts, allowed just nine walks, with a 0.91 ERA. She also hit four home runs and batted .540 on the season. Pappas earned first-team All-State honors and was also nominated for Gatorade player of the year.
The Saber becomes a Bearcat next fall, something she has known she wants to do for quite a while.
"When I first picked it, I knew it was a great school and I really picked it more for softball," said Susquehanna Valley senior Sophia Pappas. "But now that I've got to know the school, it's a great academic school and really where I want to go."
On staying close to home at Binghamton University:
"Yeah, I'm excited to be able to have my parents there watching me play and just having support at home," said Pappas.
Pappas said she's undecided on her major, but hopes to find something in math or science she likes.
