Kopernik robotics workshop runs on girl power

VESTAL (WBNG) -- The Kopernik Observatory and Science Center is channeling girl power when it comes to robotics.

On Friday, young girls of different ages came together at the science center to see what robots can do and talk with local women in STEM fields.

They were able to learn about the engineering process and even design and build robots that will solve a problem.

"We're making dog bowls, like how to feed a dog and we're learning how to use robots and how we can use them in our life," said Isabel Goncalves, a fourth grader. "They can do a lot of cool things."

Goncalves says she'd like to be an engineer when she grows up, just like her dad.
