VESTAL (WBNG) -- Brookdale Vestal West on Friday held a flag-folding ceremony for its residents ahead of Veterans Day.
Brookdale Vestal West is an assisted living community for residents with Alzheimer's or dementia.
Members of the U.S. Marine Corps spoke with the residents about how to properly fold the flag and about what each of the 13 folds mean.
Eight of the residents as well as two staff members have served for our country.
"I think it's important to show our thanks because we want to make sure we're letting the residents know that we still think about them and that they've contributed so much to our country," said Brookedale Vestal West Sales Manager Amira Davis.
Each of the residents that served in the armed forces recieved a special certificate to recognize their service.
