MIDDLETOWN, N.Y. (WBNG) -- Vestal and Lansing boys soccer both claimed state titles on Sunday at Middletown High School.
Class A State Championship: #2 Vestal (20-0-0) 4 - #1 Queensbury (22-1-0) 0
"It's an unbelievable feeling," said head coach Dave Barr after leading Vestal to its first state title since 2007. "I can't believe these guys. They've been working hard for years on this. For 12 years they've been playing soccer, and there's a good group there that just bonds together with the chemistry. I'm so happy for these guys."
"What an amazing feeling," said senior captain Parker McKnight, who scored a hat trick in the win. "It was a great win. We had to come out strong, and we did. We knew they were going to be tough, big, physical team, but we knew we had to possess the ball, move the ball forward and keep our shape and just play right through them and that's what we did. And we kept saying at the beginning of the season, '20-0,' and we finally did it."
Class C State Championship: #2 Lansing (20-2-0) 2 - #1 Byron-Bergen (20-2-0) 1 (F/2OT)
OTHER SECTION IV SCORES
Class B Regional: Owego 3 - Spackenkill 1
