BINGHAMTON (WBNG) -- Students at Ben Franklin Elementary took part in a fun program to help them learn math faster on Wednesday night.
The Math and Movement program is an interactive workshop that takes a multi-sensory approach to learning.
It incorporates physical activity with visual stimuli that makes learning fun, active, and memorable.
It uses specially designed floor mats and banners to help kids dance, walk and hop their way to mastering math and reading concepts.
"Kids need to learn math very quickly," said the program's CEO, Suzy Koontz. "They need to have a positive attitude about math, they need to feel successful, and math and movement makes children feel they can do math and have fun doing it."
The program was started in Ithaca ten years ago, and has now spread across the nation.
