BINGHAMTON (WBNG) - The Syracuse and Binghamton men's basketball teams were both in action on Wednesday night. Syracuse hosted Toledo inside the Carrier Dome and Binghamton played its final game of the Cancun Challenge in Cancun, Mexico.
Syracuse won its fifth game in a row to open the season, beating Toledo 72-64. Frank Howard scored a game-high 25 points to lead the Orange as leading-scorer Tyus Battle sat out the last 13 minutes of the game after flipping over a Toledo player. Oshae Brissett added a double-double in the victory with 17 points and 14 rebounds.
Final Score: Syracuse (5-0) - 72, Toledo (3-1) - 64
Syracuse plays Maryland at home Monday at 7 p.m.
Binghamton won its first game of the Cancun Challenge against Cal State Northridge in the third place game. J.C. Show scored 12 of his team-high 17 points in the second half, helping the Bearcats snap a four-game losing streak. Thomas Bruce added 13 points and 10 rebounds for his third double-double of the season. Bruce was selected to the all-tournament team.
Final Score: Binghamton (2-4) - 70, CSUN (1-4) - 65
Binghamton plays Hartwick College at home Sunday at 2 p.m.
