Posted: Updated:

BINGHAMTON, NY (WBNG) -- According to a source with knowledge of the situation, 12 Sports has learned that Ricky Rahne is set to become Penn State football’s next offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.

The Cornell graduate replaces Joe Moorhead, who was introduced as Mississippi State’s new head football coach Thursday afternoon.

Currently, Rahne is in his fourth season as Penn State’s passing game coordinator and second as tight ends coach. The Colorado native spent his first two seasons at Penn State as quarterbacks coach, as well.

With Moorhead officially stating that he will not coach in Penn State's upcoming bowl game, the expectation is that Rahne will step in immediately.

12 Sports reached out to Penn State athletics, but they could not confirm anything.

UNIVERSITY PARK, PA (WBNG) -- Penn State football confirmed 12 Sports' initial report from Thursday, officially promoting assistant coach Ricky Rahne to offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach early Friday evening.
