Woman accepts deal in deadly March stabbing in Binghamton

Posted: Updated:

BINGHAMTON (WBNG) – A Binghamton woman pleaded guilty Thursday to fatally stabbing her boyfriend, according to the Broome County District Attorney's Office.

Liz Ayala, 27, was arrested in March after police say she stabbed her boyfriend, 26-year-old Gerrard Davis, during a domestic dispute at 97 Broad Avenue. Police say the couple had an extensive history of domestic incidents.

Police charged her with second-degree murder, but the DA's office says she pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter in Broome County Court on Thursday morning.

“Given the facts, circumstances and events leading up to the death of Mr. Davis, the Manslaughter charge was the most appropriate in this case,” District Attorney Steve Cornwell said in a statement. "Additional information will be available after sentencing."

Officials say she is expected to receive ten years in prison with five years of parole when she is sentenced on March 1.
