VESTAL (WBNG) - The 2017-18 season started a bit slow for the Binghamton men's basketball team, but now the Bearcats are roaring into finals week winners of six in a row. Binghamton hasn't lost since the team returned from Cancun and hasn't allowed a team to score more than 66 points during its current winning streak.
Finals week gives the Bearcats some time off to study for exams and rest, but with how hot the team is playing, 12 Sports asked Binghamton men's head coach Tommy Dempsey if the break this season came at an inopportune time.
"We've played eleven games and that's as much as anyone has played," said Binghamton men's head coach Tommy Dempsey. "If you look at everyone else's record, some teams played eight, some teams played nine, some teams have played ten, we played eleven games early. So it was a lot, there was a lot of travel. We played in D.C., we played in Indiana, we played in Cancun. Of the first eleven games we only had four here, so it was nice to get a break, but maybe you don't want a break when you're playing well."
Binghamton is back in action Sunday on the road at Sacred Heart. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m.
