BINGHAMTON (WBNG) - Binghamton University head wrestling coach Matt Dernlan has resigned from his position. Binghamton athletic director Patrick Elliott announced it is for personal reasons. Dernlan was in the middle of his sixth season with the Bearcats. Binghamton is currently 3-1 this season with its only loss coming against Penn State.
Assistant coach Kyle Borshoff takes over as acting head coach. Binghamton will conduct a national search for its next head coach this spring.
12 Sports tried to talk to Borshoff or the wrestlers. Binghamton associate athletic director John Hartrick replied, "No I'm afraid they will be "offline" for the foreseeable future."
The Binghamton wrestling team is back on the mat December 29 at Minnesota.
