Food for 60 families collected in JC school's fundraiser
JOHNSON CITY (WBNG) -- Throughout November and December, Johnson City elementary and intermediate school students and staff held an annual food drive to help families in need.
Non-perishable breakfast and lunch items were collected.
Choconut Center United Methodist Church and the Lao-American United Methodist Church also donated 208 bags for the drive.
On Wednesday, teachers and staff loaded up cars to deliver the food to families.
"It's good to know that our students are looking out for other people, it's not only our students but our staff members that have donated as well, and it's great to see this time of year, the feeling of giving is out there," said JCSD Public Information Coordinator Todd Sherwood.
The school says it has raised enough food to feed 60 different families.
