JOHNSON CITY (WBNG) -- As the holiday shopping season comes to a close, many stores are still busy even after Christmas with people returning those gifts they received.
The National Retail Federation estimated nearly 66 percent of people returned at least one item last year. This year is looking similar.
"This year, I made a little envelope and marked it 'Christmas,' so that if something is not the right size or color...I can take it back." said Don Perkins from Johnson City.
Members of one family shopping at the Oakdale Mall said they have been coming back every December 26 for years to return gifts and get better deals.
While some people may be offended that the gifts they gave were exchanged, others say it's just part of the deal during Christmas time.
All shoppers and retailers we spoke with Tuesday agreed that gift receipts are essential in making the returns an easy process.
