BAINBRIDGE, N.Y. (WBNG) -- A new gym is opening its doors in Chenango County.
My Home Gym will soon open its doors to residents in on State Highway 7 in Bainbridge.
"We are offering a 24-hour facility that is open for the general public 24/7," Mike Banks, the owner, said. "I thought that this area could really use a change."
The facility will feature a variety of equipment, including machines for cardio workouts and weights.
"We're certainly I believe ahead of schedule, so come January sixth we'll be open and ready to go," Banks added.
Banks says he really wants to connect with the people who live in the area.
"I'm excited just to see new faces, get more acquainted with people in the area, and certainly gain some new friends," Banks explained.
As for the timing of the opening, it's all part of his strategy in gaining new clients as they're starting to work on their New Year's resolutions.
"It's the best time of the year to be opening, this is key time," he said.
While the process doesn't come without challenges, Banks is hopeful that what he thinks sets his business apart will encourage people to get involved.
"There are a variety of gyms in the area, but again I think because we are local, we are local business owners, that we will have a little bit more of a touch to our clientele, we will be able to see people daily on and off and I think that's something that we'll be able to offer that essentially other gyms in this area do not," Banks said.
A standard monthly membership at the gym will cost $40. Banks says if all goes well, in the future he plans to continue with an expansion of the building.
