CHENANGO BRIDGE (WBNG) -- It is common for people to leave up their holiday decorations during the week between Christmas and New Year's Day.
Now, a woman who lives on Paul Drive in Chenango Bridge is wishing she didn't.
Rita Bates says she woke up Thursday to find the baby Jesus in her nativity scene was replaced with what appears to be a baby Buddha statue.
"It is not a funny thing. To me it is a spiritual thing because the value is just a baby Jesus, you know? But the spiritual part of it bothered me. I wonder why anyone would ever do that," Bates said Friday.
According to Bates, the nativity scene was a gift and is not very expensive. She told 12 News she is debating if she should call police.
When we asked her what she would say to the person responsible for taking the baby Jesus. She said "nothing" and that she would just pray for them.
