DOT warns construction work will impact traffic first week of January

BINGHAMTON (WBNG) --The New York State Department of Transportation announced Friday that construction work for the Prospect Mountain Construction project will be performed and will affect traffic in the City of Binghamton. 

Beginning on Tuesday, Jan. 2 through Friday, Jan. 5, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. there will be periodic, alternating lane closures on State Route 7 South between Bevier Street and Frederick Street for crews to remove the existing Interstate 81 North and State Route 17 West Bridge over Route 7. 

Starting on Tuesday, Jan. 2 through Friday, Jan. 5, from 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. there will be periodic, alternating lane closures on State Route 7 North between Robinson Street and Bevier Street and Frederick Street for crews to remove the existing I-81 North and Route 17 West Bridge over State Route 7.

Beginning on Tuesday, Jan. 2 through Friday, Jan. 5 from 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. there will be periodic, alternating lane closures on Broad Avenue at the I-81 and Route 17 overpass for crews to remove the existing I-81 North and Route 17 West Bridge over Broad Avenue.

Flaggers will be on site to guide traffic through the work area.

Work will be performed weather permitting.
