BINGHAMTON (WBNG) – The Phelps Mansion Museum held its annual Open House event Saturday.
The event was open to the public and residents got to tour the historic mansion for free.
From 1:00 p.m. until 4 p.m. guests were treated to live music performed by local orchestras and performers.
Representatives from Phelps Mansion said this event is a way to give back to the community.
"Well every year we do the open house, it's a chance for us to give back to the community and give thanks to you know everybody coming out to our programs and supporting us. We wanna give back and little bit and the house is decorated for the holidays and it feels like a great opportunity to check out the house and get in the holiday season," said Mark Dickinson, the Chair of the Board of Trustees.
Dickinson also says the event is a way to thank the public for helping preserve history.
“It's a piece of history that Binghamton, unfortunately it is the last there is on this street unfortunately but you know we are still here and we are here to share it with the rest of the community," said Dickinson.
Dickinson also added that this is the first year they have done the open house on a Saturday instead of a Sunday and this year's turn out was overwhelming.
