Buffalo snaps 17-season drought, reaches playoffs in dramatic fashion

Posted: Updated:

BINGHAMTON (WBNG) - The Buffalo Bills entered Sunday with a chance to snap its 17-season playoff drought. The easiest path to the playoffs, a Buffalo win and a Baltimore loss to Cincinnati. The Bills jumped out to a 18-0 lead against the Dolphins. Miami made a comeback attempt, but a Jordan Poyer interception sealed the victory for Buffalo, 22-16.

When the Bills game finished, Cincinnati was down three on the road at Baltimore. Facing a 4th-and-12 with less than a minute to go, Andy Dalton found Tyler Boyd for a 49-yard touchdown strike to take the lead and send Buffalo to the playoffs.

Buffalo heads to Jacksonville for its wildcard playoff game. The Jaguars are the three seed, led by former Bills head coach Doug Marrone. Game starts Sunday at 1 p.m.

LeSean McCoy was carted off the field with an ankle injury. His status is unclear for Sunday.
