BINGHAMTON (WBNG) -- Hours before 2018, Binghamton residents had plenty of events to choose from.
One of those events was the 3rd annual Greater Binghamton ball drop organized by the restaurant Social on State.
"We've been planning this event month in advance, literally months in advance," says co-owner of Social on State and Head Chief, Jay Pisculli.
Early Sunday, the restaurant loaded the confetti canons and prepared the bar for hundreds of guests.
They were getting ready for anything including the cold temperatures.
“We are providing as much heating areas as possible. We are having a heated tent we are having a heated... all the heated areas for the ball drop," Pisculli said.
Across the street from Social, a VIP party was held at Atomic Toms with all you can eat food and an unlimited bar.
"And then there is a really awesome fireworks show that we are shooting off at State Street over there so everyone can enjoy that," Pisculli said.
Not too far from State Street, another big event happened at the Double tree Hotel. Their annual New Years party with the theme Winter Wonderland.
“We have cocktail hour from 8 until about 9 then we have a dinner buffet,” the banquet manager at Double Tree Hotel, Saleh Mohamed said.
The event was sold out but those who couldn't get a ticket could still get in on some of the fun.
"It has light hors d'oeuvre and a cash bar and that's from 9 p.m. until midnight,” Mohamed said.
Residents from all over the Southern Tier were ringing in the New Year in different ways.
"We are just trying to provide a party atmosphere so hopefully everyone comes down," Pisculli said.
