Binghamton man charged with assault after incident in Johnson City bar

JOHNSON CITY (WBNG) -- At approximately 12:44 Saturday morning, Johnson City police say they were called to Wilson Hospital for a report of shots fired.

According to police when they arrived officers determined there were no shots fired, but they did discover two men had arrived at the hospital for treatment of injuries they say they got at the Hookah Heaven bar in Johnson City.

In a press release, Police said a 28-year-old man sustained a stab wound as a result of the incident at Hookah Heaven. He was initially listed in critical condition.

A second man, police identified as 32-year-old Rashameh Johnson of Binghamton, was also receiving medical attention for an injury he sustained in the incident.

Police say they determined Johnson was a suspect in the stabbing of the 28-year-old man. Johnson was arrested and charged with assault in the first degree, a class B felony. He is currently being held in the Broome County Jail.

According to the release, the alleged victim has been upgraded to stable condition. Police say the investigation into the incident is ongoing and no mugshots or further information can be released at this time.
