Police: Ithaca man arrested, drugs and gun found in residence

ITHACA, N.Y. (WBNG) -- An Ithaca man faces drug and weapons charges after a bust by police in relation to a drug trafficking investigation.

Authorities say the Ithaca SWAT Team executed a search warrant Tuesday at residences on the 200 blocks of both Linn Street and East Falls Street.

Johnathon Sanchez, 26, who police say was the subject of the search, was arrested at one of the residences. Four-and-a-half ounces of crack cocaine, $12,000 in cash, a .22 caliber rifle, packaging materials and scales were also recovered, according to the Ithaca Police Department. 

Officers say Sanchez was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Criminal possession of a controlled substance in the second degree (Class A-II felony) 
  • Criminal possession of a controlled substance in the second degree (Class B felony)
  • Criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree (Class A misdemeanor)

Sanchez was booked at the Ithaca Police Department and sent to the Tompkins County Jail without bail.
