WEDNESDAY UPDATE: Police ID suspect accused of hitting trooper with vehicle in Binghamton
8:45 P.M. UPDATE:
BINGHAMTON (WBNG) -- New York State Police said the suspect shot in a pursuit with law enforcement on Tuesday night intentionally struck a trooper with his vehicle.
State Police said the incident took place shortly after 5 p.m when troopers became involved in a pursuit with a man with an active arrest warrant.
When the pursuit reached the intersection of Conklin Avenue and Alfred Street in the City of Binghamton, authorities said troopers attempted to apprehend the suspect. That's when he intentionally struck a trooper with his vehicle.
The suspect sustained a gunshot wound and fled the scene, before being apprehended a short distance away.
The suspect was taken to Wilson Memorial Hospital for treatment.
The trooper was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
New York State Police said both the suspect and the trooper are in stable condition.
7:45 P.M. UPDATE:
BINGHAMTON (WBNG) -- 12 News has learned that a suspect was shot during a confrontation with a New York State Trooper on Binghamton's south side.
According to New York State Police, the trooper was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries after the altercation.
The suspect was taken into custody and transported to the hospital with a gunshot wound, according to authorities at the scene.
Portions of roads will be blocked off for an extended period of time near the scene, as officials have not said when they will reopen.

BINGHAMTON (WBNG) -- Several police agencies are on the scene of an officer-involved shooting on Binghamton's south side.
According to New York State Police, a trooper is hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries after a shooting incident that happened near the intersection of Conklin Avenue and Alfred Street Tuesday evening.
State police say one gunshot was fired during an altercation between the trooper and a suspect he was attempting to arrest.
The suspect was taken into custody and transported to the hospital with unknown injuries, authorities told 12 News at the scene.

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WBNG) -- Police have closed down a section of Conklin Avenue in the city of Binghamton while an investigation is underway.
Police were called to the area of Conklin Avenue and Birch Street around 5:15 p.m. Tuesday.
The Binghamton Police Department confirmed an investigation is going on, but did not say what happened in that area.
A section of the road between Exchange Street and Tompkins Street has been closed to traffic.
