(WBNG)-- The Cayuga County Sheriff's Office is warning about a potentially deadly batch of heroin.
Sheriff David Gould said that those not only in Cayuga County, but residents in the Southern Tier must be on alert too, due to the possible movement of the tainted drug around New York.
"Residents down in Broome and all over down in the Southern Tier, this could certainly happen to them because I'm sure a lot of their drugs come in from the Syracuse area too." said Sheriff Gould. "Everyone's got to be alert for this because there is something bad in this batch of heroin and it's not only bad, it's deadly."
Last weekend there were two overdoses in the City of Auburn. Deputies also responded to a third overdose case outside of the City of Auburn, according to Sheriff Gould.
Cayuga County Sheriff's Office and Auburn Police are looking to track down where the heroin is being sold from to prevent future overdoses.
