Binghamton man indicted on charges of attempted murder, unlawful imprisonment

(WBNG) -- A Broome County Grand Jury on Friday indicted a Binghamton man on several charges including attempted murder and unlawful imprisonment.

According to the Broome County District Attorney's Office, Mike Rivera Jr., 35, was formally charged with the following:

  • Attempted murder,  second degree, class B felony
  • Attempted assault, first degree, class C felony
  • Assault, second degree, class D felony
  • Two counts, strangulation, second degree, class D felony
  • Sexual Abuse, first degree, class D felony
  • Unlawful imprisonment, first degree, class E felony

According to the indictment, Rivera is accused of using a knife in an attempt to cause the death of the victim in December.
