VESTAL (WBNG) - The Binghamton men's basketball team beat Albany on Monday night snapping its three-game losing streak, its 14-game skid against the Great Danes and giving BU its first America East conference victory of the season.
The Bearcats' 13-point victory against Albany was led by a 20-point effort from senior forward Willie Rodriguez. The Bearcats played a complete game, outrebounding Albany, turning the ball over fewer times, and shooting more efficiently from the field and three-point range. After the win, the BU players didn't shy away from saying, snapping the skid against the Great Danes was important to them.
"(Beating Albany) was one of our team goals actually," said sophomore guard Fard Muhammad. "To start the season, we said, we want to beat Albany twice since we haven't done it in eight years. So to go out there and lock in, and everybody be on edge about how we been playing, I think it was big for us."
"You need multiple guys to play well," said Binghamton men's head coach Tommy Dempsey. "That's how you win in basketball. You don't get carried very often. Once in a while someone might have a great performance that might carry you, but night in and night out, you need three, four, five, six guys to play well."
Binghamton goes for its second conference win Thursday night at Stony Brook. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
