sweetFrog of Binghamton is teaming up with Truth Pharm to host a night of awareness and education on the opioid epidemic.
Truth Pharm is a national advocacy non-profit organization that works to raise awareness, reduce the stigma and advocate for policy change to have a positive impact on the opioid and heroin epidemic.
This is a cause that's close to the hearts of Mike and Sue Gance, owners of the sweetFrog stores in Binghamton and Dickson City, Pennsylvania, as well as Gance's Complete Catering.
Jennifer Garnar, the manager of sweetFrog, also has a personal connection to the cause. Garnar, battled a heroin addiction for 10 years. She now has several years of sobriety, a successful career and a growing family. She often shares her inspirational story at local forums and events, in an effort to provide hope to those still struggling.
There will be an information table set up at the event where guests can claim a free opioid overdose kit, and receive training on how to use these kits safely and effectively.
The event will be on Friday, January 26 and will run from 5 to 9 p.m. at the sweetFrog store in Binghamton, located at 46 South Washington Street. Truth Pharm will receive 50 percent of all sales during the benefit.
