James & BU women soar, men tumble against UMBC

VESTAL (WBNG) - Both Binghamton University basketball teams were in action Wednesday night against UMBC. The women's basketball team hosted the Retrievers at the Events Center, while the men made the trip to Baltimore to clash with UMBC. 

BU Women:

Alyssa James was honored before the game for becoming the all-time leader in blocked shots at Binghamton University and in the America East conference. In the game, James scored a game-high 22 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. Kai Moon added 20 points and seven steals in the victory.  

Final Score: Binghamton (13-7, 4-3) - 81, UMBC (2-18, 1-6) - 51

The Bearcats are on the road Saturday at New Hampshire at 1 p.m. 

BU Men:

Willie Rodriguez grabbed eleven rebounds in the game to become Binghamton's all-time D-I leader in boards, but UMBC used a monster first half where the Retrievers outscored Binghamton by 18 points to cruise to victory. The Bearcats have now lost eight of its past ten games. 

Final Score: UMBC (14-8, 5-2) - 69, Binghamton (10-12, 1-6) - 57

Binghamton is back at home Saturday against New Hampshire at 4 p.m.
