ELMIRA, N.Y. (WBNG/WENY) -- A Chemung County family is asking for the public's help after losing a very special gift.
When the Nist Family lost eight-year-old Elijah in 2009 to the Swine Flu, his Mom did something special to keep his memory alive. She had his clothes made into blankets.
According to CBS affiliate WENY-TV, each blanket was given to an immediate family member and had special memories pertaining to each person, as well as a special message from Eli.
"Chelsea's blanket was pink, but it had patches on it made of special clothing of Elijah's and pictures that pertained specifically to Elijah and Chelsea," Eli's Mother, Tracy Nist, said. "On the back is kind of a little note from him to her."
According to WENY-TV, the blanket was donated at the Elmira Salvation Army around late November, early December 2017.
It is not there anymore as the store sent its surplus to other Salvation Army stores around the state and even in Pennsylvania.
If you find this blanket, please call Tracy Nist at (607) 207-6491 or email her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
