BINGHAMTON (WBNG) -- The Binghamton Police Department is asking city residents to avoid parking on the street Wednesday.
Police say people should park in a parking lot or driveway before the expected snowfall arrives.
"While the City’s alternate side parking rules remain in effect, this extra measure will help snow plows and emergency crews keep both lanes clear during the impending winter storm. Residents are strongly encouraged to move vehicles off streets and into driveways, public garages or lots at City parks," officials wrote in a news release.
If you don't comply there's a good chance you'll face the consequences.
"We are going to be aggressively enforcing alternate side to street and if we do have to take action as far as towing we will," said Lt. Alan Quinones of the Binghamton Police Department. "It's very important to keep these streets open for business and emergency vehicles."
Quinones adds if you don't have to go anywhere Wednesday then stay home.
