Families take over M-E High School hill on a snow day

Posted: Updated:

ENDWELL (WBNG) -- Many people in the area took advantage of the snowy weather, especially children who had the day off from school.

A popular spot for some winter fun is the big hill right outside the Maine-Endwell High School.

Corey Tyner of Endicott went to go check it out Wednesday morning with his family.

"No school today, figured we would go out and enjoy the beautiful weather we're having," said Tyner.

But for Tyner it's more than just a snow day. He says it's a family tradition to go sledding down the hill.

"Well maybe when they have kids they'll bring their children here and do the same," added Tyner.

There's something about the hill many kids in the area seem to like.

"It's fun and steeper than a lot of the other hills," said Hailey Henkiel of Endicott.

12 News also asked some of the youngsters sledding if they were happy they didn't have to go to school.

"Yeah because I've been working really hard," said Whitney Point resident Eliyva Sessions.

Henkiel shook her head yes and said "Because I don't really like school."

Either way many were out having fun and enjoying what Mother Nature had to offer.

On Facebook, others told us their favorite local sledding spots include George W. Johnson Park in Endicott and A.F. Palmer Elementary in Windsor. Join the conversation by commenting on the Facebook post below!
