CONKLIN (WBNG) - The Susquehanna Valley girls basketball team is absolutely dominating the competition this season. The Sabers have won all 17 games its played. SV is known for its smothering defense under head coach Chad Freiji and is allowing a mere 35-points per game this season. In its past five games no team has reached 33 points against the Sabers. With seven seniors Susquehanna Valley seems poised to make a run at another state championship, but don't think the girls are buying into their own hype.
"We encourage each other," said Susquehanna Valley senior guard Trinasia Kennedy. "We don't buy into the hype of 'hey, you're going to win states. You're 17-0,' because we don't really care. We care about going game-by-game-by-game because that's the only way we are going to win. We can't win saying 'oh yeah, we're going to win states, we're going to slide through Section IV.' It can't go like that. We have to be able to take it step-by-step and be like 'this is what we are going to do the next game and this is what we are going to do better the next game and that's what makes us such a good team."
So who's next for Susquehanna Valley? The Sabers host Windsor Thursday night at 7:15 p.m.
