Cuomo makes funding available for people struggling to heat their homes
ALBANY, N.Y. (WBNG) -- Earlier this week, Governor Andrew Cuomo announced he will make additional funding available to help New Yorkers stay warm through the winter.
In a news release, Cuomo said that households in danger of running out of fuel or having their utility service shut off can apply for a second emergency benefit through the HEAP program. Applications will be accepted beginning February 12.
Households will be eligible for different amounts of funding based on income, household size and how the home is heated.
Applications can be submitted at any local department of social services in person or on the phone. You can find your nearest office here.
