VIRGIL, N.Y. (WBNG) -- Hundreds of firefighters across New York are in a major battle this weekend, but all in good fun.
The eleventh annual Fireman's Association of the State of New York (FASNY) tests the agility and strength of many firefighter's.
Nearly two hundred fighters were heating up Greak Peak Mountain Resort Saturday afternoon in Virgil.
"It's exciting," said Walton Fire Department third Assistant Fire Chief Trent Wood. "You have to work as a team just like you have to on a fire scene. You got to work together and everyone cheers for everyone and helps each other out."
Fire departments from Walton to Long Island make their way to this event.
Forty teams faced head to head taking part in many activities.
Some of them include tug of war, tube racing and a scavenger hunt.
"I want to destroy them," said Selden Fire Department firefighter Justin Booker. "But at the end you got to shake their hands and it's all fun. Your hands get so cramped up. It's not fun."
Booker says it's his second year going to the games and he plans on coming back again next year.
Firefighters also add this event is not only for the fun of it but to also meet new people in New York and rekindle old friendships.
The competition starts back up again Sunday morning at 7 a.m.
