BINGHAMTON (WBNG) -- Young and talented gymnasts from across New York state spent this weekend in a two day competition.
Several athletes took part in the New York Cup Gymnastics Invitational at the Floyd L. Maines Veterans Memorial Arena.
Girls of all ages performed in front of their families and judges.
"Before I go I get nervous," said Anya Alfonsetti, of Endicott. "But like when I'm doing it I like try to stay focused and that like normally helps me do my best."
After five years Alfonsetti still get nervous but is able to keep her composure.
She's also a part of the Southern Tier Gymnastics Academy.
She's been competing in meets all her life and is looking to the future.
"To go to D-I for college, that's my dream, like my goal to go to D-I" added Alfonsetti.
For some it was their first time at the cup, like Sophia Mancuso.
She's from Westchester New York and was with her team Odyssey Gymnastics.
"I was really nervous and I didn't want to do it but I know it's going to be really fun," said Mancuso.
She says team work is key. 12 News asked her if she would be going to the Olympics one day, she says not right now, but she knows people who will.
"I think a lot of the girls on my team are probably going to get into the Olympics and Odyssey," explained Mancuso. "There's a lot of good people."
Both Mancuso and Alfonsetti plan on coming back again next year.
