UPDATE: Animals killed, barn total loss after massive fire

UPDATE 7:25 P.M. -- The barn that caught fire in Barton early Monday morning was ruled a total loss.

The barn on Oak Hill Road was a destroyed, according to Halsey Valley fire department Assistant Fire Chief Tom Cole.

He also said that a one horse and an unknown number of chickens were killed.


BARTON (WBNG) -- Fire crews battled a barn fire in Barton early Monday morning.

Crews at the scene told 12 News they got a call for a structure fire on Oak Hill Road at around 2:00 am.

When 12 News crews got there, most of the barn had collapsed and was still engulfed in flames.

Emergency crews 12 News spoke with said there were no human injuries reported.

However, crews did say the home owner told them he was missing a horse after the fire started.

The Halsey Valley, Tioga Center and Waverly/Barton Fire Departments were all at the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
