BINGHAMTON (WBNG) -- The Greater Binghamton Chamber of Commerce gave its 2018 Economic Forecast Tuesday morning.
Officials said the outlook for the year is a positive one.
According to economy experts, the Southern Tier is seeing growth in a number of fields including health care and construction.
"Those are all sort of good paying jobs that can grow with the community, and transition away from just relying more on the industrial legacy that we once had," said Vice President and Regional Economist at M&T Bank Gary Keith.
Binghamton Rumble Ponies Owner John Hughes was recognized at Tuesday's Breakfast.
Hughes was presented with the 2018 "Building Broome County Individual" award. It recognizes someone whose investment of time, talent and money positively impacts our local community and economy.
Hughes' renovations at NYSEG Stadium were the largest and most expensive in the stadium's history.
He also helped secure the Eastern League All-Star game in 2020 with his "#BingItHome" campaign.
