Binghamton softball excited for new season ahead

Posted: Updated:

VESTAL (WBNG) -- Binghamton softball held its media day Tuesday afternoon at the Events Center.

After capturing the regular season conference title each of the past two years, the Bearcats enter 2018 with high expectations. Binghamton was tabbed to finish first in the America East preseason poll.

"I really like the way the team is working together right now," said ninth-year head coach Michelle Johnston. "I think we just have a really good culture within the team of working hard and working for each other, and I just hope that they can continue that throughout the season, and we expect good things."

"We are just super excited to get started," added senior infielder Carrie Maniccia. "We've been able to get out a little bit this winter. Today even felt like spring, and it just got us even more excited to get down to Texas and be able to showcase the hard work we put in in the offseason."

The Bearcats open the season this upcoming weekend in Beaumont, Texas.
