(WBNG) -- Auchinachie Cares is donating a new heating and cooling system to help a town of Maine family through the local nonprofit A Room to Heal.
Auchinachie Services owner Bob Auchinachie said the organization is donating an HVAC system worth more than $5,000 to help 17-year-old Katie Creech who was diagnosed with Rett Syndrome.
Executive Director of A Room to Heal Linda Snyder said the system will improve Creech's quality of life.
"Her body temperature is difficult to maintain and regulate and when it's not regulated it causes a lot of serious problems, and so this was something that she really needed and we're so grateful that they were able to do this for us," she said.
Auchinachie said it's great to have the opportunity to help the community.
"We didn't know the person, but we know the organization and what they do for people in our area. So it was nice to become a partner in this one, to really step up and provide the equipment," he said. "It felt really good to know that we're making a big difference for this person."
Auchinachie Cares donates to local nonprofits every month. You can find information on how to apply here.
