BINGHAMTON (WBNG) - In this week's edition of B-Devils Sit-down, 12 Sports Director Larry Burneal talks to Binghamton Devils head coach Rick Kowalsky about his team's recent hot streak and the injury status of John Quenneville.
The Binghamton Devils have won five of six games, how did the team turn into one of the hottest teams in the AHL?
"Well I think we are finally getting some results for our work and scoring some goals," said Binghamton Devils head coach Rick Kowalsky. "But, we've also been very good defensively, and I think the biggest thing is just some personnel changes. The addition of Steve Santini, which its been a while now, but he certainly solidifies our back-end and gives us a solid defensive defenseman. He keeps it simple, he's physical, he ends plays and he moves the puck up. Then, Jake Walman is a talented young defenseman that can move the puck, shoot the puck and skates really well. Then, Christoph Bertschy and Mario Lucia have certainly done a good job coming in with the trade with Minnesota and added to our speed game. Certainly (they) give us a level of skill and have played really well for us."
What's the status of John Quenneville? Could he return to the lineup Friday night?
"No I think he's still going to be a while yet," said Kowalsky. "We were hopeful that would happen, but he hasn't made the progress we thought. So we're going to have to take a step back here and maybe look at another week. Hopefully, as this weekend progresses, we'll see how he feels."
The Binghamton Devils are on the road Friday night in Syracuse. Puck drops at 7 p.m.
