VESTAL (WBNG) -- In anticipation of an expected snow storm, classes at Binghamton University have already been canceled for Thursday.
The university made the announcement on its social media platforms Monday.
Days after a major snow storm pounded the Southern Tier, knocking out power for thousands, the area is expected to receive another round of snow on Wednesday and Thursday, when students will be returning to Binghamton University from break.
"Classes are canceled for Thursday, March 8," The university wrote in the post. "With an impending snowstorm in the Metro NY region and students returning to campus from winter break, administrators felt it prudent to cancel classes, for the safety of the student body."
Residence halls will open at 2 p.m. on Wednesday as previously planned, the university says, with classes resuming on Friday.
Employees are expected to report as usual on Wednesday, but the university urges employees to use discretion.
