ENDICOTT (WBNG) -- School officials say no credible threat was found after a suspicious package was found outside of an elementary school in Endicott.
A package was found outside Charles F. Johnson Elementary School on Monday, according to the district. An official notes students were already inside the building when staff were made aware.
Staff reported the package to New York State Police as soon as they found it, the official said, and troopers were at the school within minutes.
The district says there was no credible threat to student safety and the school day resumed as normal.
State police tell 12 News K-9 dogs search the package, as well as the area around the package, but did not find any odor of explosives.
District officials say they have identified the students responsible for placing the package and are disciplining those students. State police say there were no arrests.
Below is the letter the district sent to parents regarding the incident.
