Police: $17K in crystal meth seized, 6 arrested in drug bust

ENDICOTT (WBNG) -- Six people face charges after investigators say crystal meth, cocaine and a loaded gun were found in a Monday night drug raid.

Members of the Broome County Special Investigations Unit Task Force executed search warrants during a planned traffic stop on Fillmore Avenue in the village of Endicott as part of an investigation. Following that search, searches at 112 Fillmore Avenue and a hotel room in the town of Vestal followed were then executed, authorities say.

According to investigators, the following items were found:

  • 174 grams of crystal meth with an approximate street value of $17,000
  • Smaller amounts of crystal meth packaged for sale
  • 3.28 grams of crack cocaine
  • 11 morphine pills
  • 2 oxycodone pills
  • About $24,000 of suspected drug sale proceeds in cash
  • A loaded SCCY CPX-2 9mm handgun
  • A loaded LC9S Ruger 9mm handgun which was reported stolen out of Sheperdsville, Kentucky
  • Drug packaging, digital scales, plastic packaging and drug paraphernalia

The following six individuals were arrested on the charges below:

Sarah Armstrong, 41, Louisville, Kentucky

  • One Count of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the second degree, a class A-II felony
  • Three counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, a class B felony
  • Two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, a class C felony
  • One count of criminal possession of marijuana in the second degree, a class D felony
  • One count of criminal possession of stolen property in the fourth degree, a class E felony
  • Three counts of criminally using drug paraphernalia in the second degree, a class A misdemeanor
  • Four counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a class A misdemeanor

Bonnie Werner, 41, Johnson City

  • Two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, a class B felony
  • One count of criminally using drug paraphernalia in the second degree, a class A misdemeanor
  • Four counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a class A misdemeanor

George Shepard, 52, Endicott

  • Two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, a class B felony
  • One count of criminally using drug paraphernalia in the second degree, a class A misdemeanor
  • Four counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a class A misdemeanor

Donnie Helm, 27, Radcliff, Kentucky

  • Two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, a class B felony
  • One count of criminally using drug paraphernalia in the second degree, a class A misdemeanor
  • Four counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a class A misdemeanor

Matthew Wood, 33, Endicott

  • Two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a class A misdemeanor
  • Two counts of criminally using drug paraphernalia in the second degree, a class A misdemeanor

Joseph Spencer, 31, Endicott

  • One count of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a class A misdemeanor

All six suspects were arraigned at the Endicott Police Department. All were sent to the Broome County Jail without bail, except for Joseph Spencer, who was released on an appearance ticket. He is expected to appear in court at a later date.

The task force was assisted at the scene by the Endicott Police Department.
