Wegmans evacuated due to unattended suitcase in store

JOHNSON CITY (WBNG) -- We're learning more about why a local Wegmans store was evacuated Tuesday night.

A Wegmans spokesperson tells 12 News the Johnson City store was briefly evacuated around 8:40 p.m. on Tuesday after an unattended suitcase was discovered in an aisle.

Johnson City police investigated, the spokesperson says, and it was determined the suitcase posed no threat to public safety.

The spokesperson notes a customer returned to the store, saying she accidentally left the suitcase behind.

Customers were allowed back into the store by 9:10 p.m.



JOHNSON CITY (WBNG) -- The Wegmans in Johnson City was briefly evacuated Tuesday evening. 

12 News reporters at the store say everyone was asked to leave the building and nobody was being let inside. Johnson City police was at the scene.

Since then 12 News reporters say the store has opened back up as normal.
