DELHI (WBNG) -- While locals in Delaware County said they are used to this type of weather, they were surprised to see so much snow hit the area this late in the season.
The eastern part of the Southern Tier was hit with more snow than places like Broome and Tioga Counties.
Road conditions were smooth on the main roads. Snow piled up high on the corners of the sidewalks.
Despite some businesses being closed, people walking around in Delhi said this type of weather doesn't affect their day-to-day activities.
"I haven't had to shovel and sidewalks are cleared pretty much by themselves," said Michael Tweed from Delhi who was getting dinner with his son. "A little brushing and that will be it."
Two young girls, Adrianna and Charlotte Outsu from Delhi, were helping their mom at the local salon on their day off from school. They said they were also having fun in the snow.
"We're making pretend refrigerators to put snowballs in and making holes in the ground to pretend they are little snow forts and beds," said Adrianna.
While the kids were having a good time in the snow, others were not a fan of the amount hitting the area this time of year.
"The fact that it's in March is the hard part," said Tweed. "It was so nice at the end of February there, but you know it's okay, it's what happens up here."
Nevertheless, many in Delaware County said they are looking forward to spring weather in the future.
