ENDICOTT (WBNG) -- Marty "Smarty" Palombo, owner of Smarty's in Endicott, said he wants to thank everyone he can for having his custom grill back in his possession tonight.
Early Wednesday he was alerted by a friend of a friend who saw his Facebook post and also the story on 12 News Tuesday night.
The grill was at a scrap metal plant in Binghamton, and Palombo was able to pick it up. On Wednesday afternoon it was strapped in tightly to his pickup truck so it doesn't end up with anyone else. Palombo believed that someone assumed that the grill, which was drying at the end of his driveway on Sunday after he cleaned it, was scrap metal.
"I'm happy it's back," said Palombo. "I'm glad good Samaritans came forth especially in the business they're in and found it for me and it's back home.
Palombo now has learned, and wants to warn you, not to leave your belongings near the bottom of your driveway so it's not assumed as another man's treasure.
