DSGO organizers to announce concert performer next week

Posted: Updated:

VESTAL (WBNG) – Some fans were left disappointed after the concert at the 2017 Dick's Sporting Goods Golf Open. Those in charge are saying they do not anticipate any problems for this year.

The two biggest spectator complaints were about the concert starting two hours late and muffled audio.

Tournament organizers say poor communication from performer Bon Jovi's management contributed to the problems.

To ensure this year's golf open will not encounter these problems, it will be in the upcoming band's contract to arrive early.

Officials have not announced who will play at the 2018 concert but say they plan on working close with the band's audio engineer to provide the best sound.

"We're looking forward to golf going 'til 6, 6:30 at night. It being a beautiful Friday August evening, concert's gonna come on at dusk, everyone's going to have a great time and we're going to have a tremendous 2018," said DICK'S Sporting Goods Open Tournament Director John Karedes.

Event officials plan to announce this year's band Monday morning. Tickets will be on sale the following week.
