(WBNG) -- Two people arrested in Pennsylvania after a police chase were wanted on robbery charges in Broome County, according to authorities.
Broome County Sheriff's Detectives say Derrick Svenson, who authorities say has no listed address, and Jenifer Griffith, of Binghamton were in a vehicle with a female acquaintance in a car on Hiner Road in the town of Kirkwood late Sunday morning.
Detectives explain Svenson and Griffith stole the acquaintance's purse and other property while threatening her with a knife. The victim was able to leave the vehicle and called for help at a nearby residence.
Svenson and Griffith were spotted driving the vehicle early Monday morning and would not pull over when authorities tried to pull the vehicle over, detectives say.
The pair crossed over into Pennsylvania on Interstate 81 southbound and were eventually arrested by Pennsylvania State Police near Gibson, Pennsylvania.
Pennsylvania State Police said on Monday Svenson got out of the vehicle and tried to run away, but was captured.
Detectives have charged Svenson and Griffith with first-degree robbery, to go along with charges filed by Pennsylvania State Police. Troopers say both face drug charges.
Svenson and Griffith are currently in Susquehanna County Jail. More charges are expected when they are extradited back to New York State, authorities say.
The investigation is ongoing.
